Concealed Weapons 2012

I just read an article in journalism and I found it quite interesting, It was about a 182 year old clothing company making a new pair of pants called Chinos. They cost sixty-five dollars. They are also stylish and comfortable. The pants are used to hold and hide a handgun. The gun can be placed in a pocket behind the front pocket. The back pockets can hold other materials such as knives and flashlights. This company also makes shirts to carry weapons as well. These clothes are now being sold at sporting goods stores. The makers made this clothing because they want people to be safer when they are traveling and outside.

I think this law is good and bad at the same time. Maybe people won't even buy the shirts and pants. I think this was a good idea because if people walk around with weapons on them, criminals won't try to commit any crimes. They'll leave that person alone because they don't want to be hurt. This clothing may cut down the rate of crimes. Criminals might have a second chance before they try to rob or kill someone. Then again people that have access to easy gun use might feel more powerful. They might become a criminal. If someone tries to rob them, they might end up in having a shoot-out. Other people might just stay the same way and just have easy access to their weapon. They should continue to make these clothes but if people start to get out of hand they should stop making them.

Abortion

   The other day in journalism class, seniors came in our class and presented their senior project. Their topic was abortion and what it is. Some women and or teenagers get abortions because they can't afford to have a baby or they got pregnant by an accident. When girls get an abortion they kill the baby while it is still inside of their body. Abortion is basically killing someone, people don't think of it as murder but the baby is still a human. Since 1973 up until now, about 54,000,000 babies have been killed due to an abortion. About 137 babies die from abortion per hour! If people don't want babies they should not have sex or use a condom. If a woman is raped, they can get medical care and most likely will not become pregnant. Most of the abortions are caused by African American women. 2000 was the highest year of abortion as of today. It is known that abortion can cause other medical problems later in life such as ectopic pregnancies double, higher chances of miscarriage, and pelvic inflammatory diseases also increase.

   "Abortion is murder and demeans the way of life." I strongly agree with what one of the seniors said. I think abortion is wrong and is also harmful to the person that is getting an abortion. It can cause mental, emotional, and physical damage to a person. People that have unplanned pregnancies should not get abortions, they should put the baby up for adoption. It doesn't really cost that much & it does no harm. I strongly think abortion is not the way, people who get it should be arrested.

Most Births Outside Marriage

   The other day in class we read an article about children being born to parents that are not married, mostly adults that are around thirty years old. People have sex and sometimes they plan to have a kid and some don't. Maybe the condom broke or came off or something. It is know that kids that are born to parents that aren't in a relationship often reflect in bad ways. Some women want children but can't afford to be in a committed relationship or get married. Women that went to college often get married and have a kid inside of marriage than a women or teenager that did not go or dropped out of high school. Researchers say that kids that are not born into a married couple have a better chance of facing emotional problems later on in life.

   I think parents should have kids after they get married. Maybe some people get married and after they have a kid they get a divorce. If kids are born into a healthy home they will most likely act better in school and in life. The rate of kids being born to parents that are not married is getting higher and higher and it's not good. Some people are in love with each other and treat their relationships like they're married. Also, maybe a lot of adults can't afford to be married and have a children because it costs too much money. Sometimes mothers and fathers struggle taking care of a child or children themselves.

Trayvon Martin Tragedy (Blog #8)

   Trayvon Martin was a seventeen year old boy that was friendly, played football, had good grades and caused no harm. Trayvon was killed on the night of February 26th 2012 in Florida by a neighborhood watch men named George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was on duty that night also. George called the cops and said that Trayvon looked suspicious because he was wearing a hoody and he was African American. The cops told Zimmerman several times not to follow Trayvon but he did not listen and pursued Martin anyway. He shot him once and Trayvon hit the ground immediately while he was on the phone with his girlfriend. Zimmerman said "he looks suspicious" but all Trayvon was armed with was an Arizona Iced Tea and a red bag of skittles!

   I think what happened to Trayvon Martin was uncalled for. This isn't a big issue because he was innocent, most people dislike the whole situation because a Caucasian killed an unarmed African American and was not arrested. If a black man shot and killed an innocent white man, I think he would be charged with first degree murder and get a lot of years in jail. People all over the country are very upset about this situation. Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman were trending on Twitter. People have also been taking pictures with a hoody, a bag of skittles and a Arizona Iced Tea and said "I am Trayvon Martin!" It was a documentary about this shooting on BET and over 100 people marched for Trayvon Martin. I personally think George Zimmerman should be arrested for killing an unarmed civilian. Kony 2012

    Lately there has been a big story in the news about a man called Joseph Kony. Joseph Kony is a man that leads an army called the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA). Kony and his army has been kidnapping kids for about twenty years. He kidnaps them while they are sleep, gives them guns, and force them to kill their parents and other people. He also uses the All of this takes place in Uganda Africa. Some people even say Joseph Kony is worse than Osama Bin Laden and Adolf Hitler! Obama has sent one hundred U.S. troops to capture and kill Joseph Kony. Other U.S. civilians are trying to make Kony "famous". They want everyone to know about Kony so he can be brought to justice. On April 20, 2012 people are volunteering to go outside and put up posters everywhere in the city.

   I am one of them people that is helping to put posters up. I think what Kony is doing is wrong. He should not be kidnapping children and forcing them to kill their parents. He said that he wanted power and money. If he just wants that he should just get a job not kill people. This Kony story has been spread really fast. It is still all over the news, it was trending on twitter, videos on YouTube and we have watched videos in school. As of now, no one knows where Joseph is but they are looking for him. This twenty plus years of horror needs to stop. I hope the troops find him soon. Facebook is Using You

   Facebook and the people who work for Facebook gets paid for advertising on people's pages. By liking pages and posting statuses, Facebook knows what you like. Basically they're tracking you and everything you do. Other websites get paid from doing it too such as Twitter, Myspace and other social network sites. If you are engaged an advertisement might be on the side of your profile page showing you nice wedding cakes. Some of the advertisements might be against you as well. For example if you live in Philadelphia and a lot of people in the state don't have a lot of money or have a hard time paying bills, they might think think you can't pay your bills as well. Some people worry about what they post of websites and think it might change some things.

    I have a Twitter, if I post a tweet people might think it's about them and may want to argue with me. I posted my number on Facebook and people started to prank call my cell phone. Sometimes i'll be mad and post something but can't delete it later on. I can also post a video of me making a fool of myself. One time i gave someone my password and they hacked my computer and gave it a virus. Sometimes I do worry about the stuff I post on the internet. People in the Facebook company can track what I say but I really could careless because I delete my cookies and history all the time.

Linning

   Jeremy Lin is a basketball player that has rose to the top of the NBA in two weeks! Jeremy Lin plays for the New York Knicks. Last year Jeremy Lin played for the Golden State Warriors but he was not recognized as much as he is now, he plays point guard and his jersey number is 17. He averages 14.6 points and 5.7 assists per game. The sponsors are talking about putting him on the cover of NBA 2k13. Jeremy Lin has fans all over the world. They are buying his jersey's and T-shirts. Fans uses a lot of phrases for Jeremy Lin such as, "lintillect, linsane, linsanity, LIN V P, Jeremy Lin Laden and Linning". Lin played against some of the best players in the league such as Kobe, Dirk Nowitzki, Deron Williams and he plays Lebron James and Dwayne Wade on Thursday.

   I like Jeremy Lin a lot. I knew he was on the Golden State Warriors unlike other people. I think they are actually piping his heart up too much though. The producer of 2k are trying to put him on 2k13 and he was only recognized. If he messes up or does not win the championship i'm pretty sure people will start to call him a sell out. They should treat him as he is, just because he makes a lot of points, crossed over John Wall and shot in Dirk Nowitizki's face, he shouldn't be pushed that much. He is also in the All Star game. To sum it up Jeremy Lin is over rated, but he is a very good player in my opinion.
